Configuring Pixabay in the Image Bank
Pixabay is a royalty–free image bank with over one million images and is probably the most popular free image bank.
Here are the configurable options:
- Username/Api key: Required to use Pixabay. You can sign up for Pixabay here. Then go to the API page, then in the “Search Images” section, you will have access to the API key to fill in (in addition to your nickname).
- Image Type: Choose from all, photo, illustration, and vector. All and Photo usually return multiple results. Illustration and Vector Image may return fewer results.
- Language: Many languages are available. Choose the language that matches the language of your WordPress content.
- Orientation: Horizontal or Vertical. In other words, landscape or portrait.
- Minimum width: Minimum image size in terms of width. For example 1920px.
- Minimum height: Minimum image size in terms of height. For example 1280px.
- Safesearch: Whether or not to display potentially offensive images. Disabled by default.
