Configuring Grok in Source
Pro (you pay xAI for usage). Grok Imagine generates photorealistic images from your post keywords using your xAI API key. You do not need Replicate. It generates an image — it does not search a photo library.
Where to enable it #
Open Source, add Grok (badge AI, locked as Pro on the free plugin) to the Automatic generation chain, then click Configure. Style presets on Automatic → Image Placement apply when this bank generates. The Gutenberg block cannot search Grok (photo tabs only).
Get an API key #
Create a key in the xAI console. Paste it in the Grok panel and click API testing. This dedicated bank uses your xAI key — not a Replicate token.
Options #
- API Key — Required. Your xAI console key.
- Aspect Ratio — 1:1, 16:9 (default) or 9:16.
Billing #
The xAI API is prepaid credits, not the free Grok app. Without credits (or a payment method), xAI rejects every request — including API testing in the plugin. Add credits on the xAI billing page.
Time and restrictions #
Caution: generation usually takes a few seconds. Image URLs from xAI expire; Magic Post Thumbnail downloads them immediately into your Media Library.
Previewing this bank on Source consumes xAI credits — the plugin warns you and asks for confirmation before an AI preview. The plugin does not charge per image. xAI bills the prepaid credits on the key you enter.
